Next night Friday July 3rd

Big thanks to everyone who came along to the last night at our new venue, The Shooting Star. We reckon it was a success and we hope you enjoyed it. The venue turned out to be as good as had been hoped, and we were delighted to see so many of you there. Special thanks to Jon Downs who did a cracking early set, and to Tony Smith for an absolutely top drawer guest spot. Hope to see you at the next one.

We are delighted to announce that our guest DJ for the July night will be Dean Anderson.

New Venue Found! Next night Friday May 8th

Great news! Dave has succesfully sorted out a great new venue and Solid Hit Soul will be back up and running on Friday May 8th.

The next night is ON!

The new venue is downstairs at The Shooting Star , 125 Middlesex Street, London E1. Take no notice of the E.1 postcode because it’s only a 3 minutes stagger from Liverpool Street railway & tube station & a whole multitude of bus routes.

If this means anything to beer drinkers, it’s a Fullers pub. The basement has it’s own bar & wooden flooring throughout & it’s more than twice the size of the City Pride so space to dance again!

So all good news ? Well not quite because we’ve managed to lose a DJ! That young scallywag Gene Robertson has decided to hang up his loud shirts & step away from the decks, though he has threatened that the shirts could make occasional return appearences on the dance floor.

A big thanks to Gene for consistently playing sets of quality music over the last few years & he will certainly be missed, as will his high speed dashes to the loo halfway through his set. ohmy.gif

We are very pleased that Shane Cox has agreed to step in to fill the gap. Shane has previously guested at SHS on a couple of occasions so you know the quality that he will bring. As well as many guest spots in the South he is also an occasional guest at the mighty Wilton Allnighters & you don’t get on there unless you can bring some quality to the decks. No pressure then Shane

Times are as before 8pm-1am

Music Policy as before: 60s 60s 60s Niter biggies, semi knowns & underplayed oldies + some quality better known stuff all aimed at the floor.

£5 Entry.  Thank you for your continued support and we hope to see you there.

Solid Hit Soul Northern soul club London

Solid Hit Soul club is a bi-monthly northern and rare soul club which is now held Upstairs at The City Pride, 28 Farringdon Lane, Clerkenwell, EC1R 3AU. Same details 8pm-1am £5 entry.

We play 60’s soul music, generally uptempo, with a view to getting the dance floor going, rather than stroking our own egos.

Importantly for us (though you may not care yourself), we only play original 45rpm records – which means you get a fresh and exciting mix of sounds, many of which have never appeared on compact disc, reissue, bootleg or on compilation albums. We try and mix in well known classics and current monsters with lesser known gems that deserve greater exposure.

All welcomed, regardless of whether you are a seasoned northern soul veteran or just looking to check out something different. There is no dress code and if you have any questions or queries, drop us a mail.

There are four experienced DJ’s behind the decks at Solid Hit Soul plus a top quality guest. Resident DJ’s are: Gene Robertson, Stuart Tyler, Dave Greenhill and Des Parker all have DJ’d extensively with many many guest spots and residencies under their belts. Previous guests have included the likes of Dave Rimmer, Arthur Fenn, John Weston, Carl and Maria Willingham, Carl Fortnum, Steve Green, Pete Hulatt and many more besides.
